We hope you are doing well despite the current and on-going pandemic. This is a newsletter sharing news and information that already has been shared with the participants of our conference. Don't miss the news about the IrisBG Community forum and Floria combability at the end of this newsletter.
November 5th & 6th we co-organised the 2020 Plant Records Conference, a continuation of the series of annual IrisBG User Conferences that first was initiated by Reinout Havinga of the Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam in 2016. Since then four different hosts gardens have hosted the conference, a community-centric conference to share ideas and experiences using IrisBG.
This year was different in two aspects; we co-hosted the conference together with Floria, hence the name change into "Plant Records Conference" and of course, due to the ongoing pandemic the conference was held online in November instead of in May at the Mainz Botanic Garden, Germany.
We have now published all conference material including recordings of the presentations in our Knowledge Library. You can find the kit under Articles & Presentations > 2020 Plant records Conference.
Read the full summary–with videos of Ralf Omlor's showcase of Mainz Botanic Garden, Reinout Havinga's programme intro and closing summary–and of course the botanical jokes!

Thank you to the presenters and all the facilitators helping with the breakout sessions
With close to 80 participants from across Europe, USA and even Australia (especially thanks to you who joined despite the late hour at yours) we got to tackle questions concerning field collection, how to go about tracking semi-naturalized plants, how to work with volunteers and how to design a good tour for your audience in Garden Explorer.

–It would be helpful if we could also have a platform where the different gardens and institutions can share protocols and methods with the IrisBG community. Lets collaborate! Teamwork makes the Dream work!
We fully agree! And for that reason we have now set up a new forum for you to populate with discussions and questions for the community (and us!).
You will need to sign in to see threads and topics in the forum.
Regarding combability of IrisBG and the latest version of Floria
We have received questions about why the latest version of Floria is not compatible with IrisBG. All third parties who are developing add-ons for IrisBG has to follow our guidelines for third party Data Exchange in order for us to be able to secure the integrity of your data. Because of this we prepared an interface for developers to ensure this many years ago.
As a third party, Floria has to follow these guidelines. In order to avoid corruption of your data we have disabled the attempt to circumvent the interface.
We are truly sorry for this inconvenience.
